VOX Books guide young readers with audio

Posted on July 12, 2019

Hearing written words spoken aloud is an important element for children learning to read. VOX Books, which have recently been added to the IndyPL collection for a trial run at the Lawrence and Michigan Road branches, are print books with audio books physically integrated into them. Touching a button on a small panel attached to the side of the book allows children to listen as they read along.

VOX Books have been flying off the shelves, with 64 titles circulating over 285 times in less than three months. Michigan Road Branch Manager Denyce Malone said, “They are always checked out,” and numerous patrons have requested more VOX Books be added. Some of the new books will also be in Spanish.
