With an opening gala on February 9 at Central Library, Meet the Artists began its 31st year at the Library. Founded and curated by Artist-in-Residence Anthony Radford, Meet the Artists was born from a need to provide African American artists with more venues to exhibit their work. The opening night gala was a highlight of the two-month long exhibit and featured African drumming, face painting, a gospel choir, performances from African American fraternities and sororities and a fashion show (see picture).

The exhibit featured works like painting, photography, jewelry and mixed media. It was on display in Central Library through March 31, 2019.

Meet the Artists is made possible by the Christel DeHaan Family Foundation and Friends of the Library through gifts to The Indianapolis Public Library Foundation.
