Summer is an exciting time at the Library! The Summer Reading Program takes place throughout the Library system, but each branch uses the program to connect with its community in a special way.
- Spades Park Branch Library kicked off the 2018 Summer Reading Program in Spades Park early in June.Community partners included LYN House, Urban Act Academy, and The Indianapolis Fire Department. Attending families enjoyed face painting, balloon animals, and playing carnival and yard games, as well as a craft table where kids could create their own superhero mask. This event was supported by Nottingham Realty Group.
- Garfield Park Branch Library had an earth-friendly bent to its kick-off. The activities focused on the environment, featuring a rain barrel workshop where participants could create a rain barrel for their own home. Covanta donated the rain barrels for the program, and CSX Transportation supported the other program costs.
- Haughville Branch Library just held a community day last week! The program included face painting, crafts, free book giveaways to children, and registering families for the Summer Reading Program. Apex Benefits supported this event.
